Poker is a card game in which players place bets (representing money) into a central pot in order to win. Unlike casino games like blackjack, in which the house is required to make certain forced bets, poker is played entirely in a voluntary manner, with players placing money into the pot when they believe it has positive expected value or want to try and bluff other players for various strategic reasons.<\/p>\n
Each player is dealt two cards by the dealer, which are then placed in front of them on the table face up. The player on the chair to their right cuts the deck, and betting begins. A player\u2019s hand can consist of a pair, three of a kind, four of a kind, straight or flush. Usually the higher the hand, the better. High cards are used to break ties (five of a kind beats two distinct pairs, for example).<\/p>\n
